Is TikTok getting banned? (My honest take)
Hey there friend,
Everyone keeps asking me about TikTok getting banned.
"Should I still start TikTok Shop?"
"What if I build this business and TikTok disappears?"
"Are you worried about losing everything?"
Let me give you my honest perspective on this.
I'm Not Worried. Here's Why.
Look, I went to bed on January 18th knowing the ban was coming.
The next morning, everyone else was panicking and I got sick of hearing it.
While they were freaking out, I was already planning my next move.
I was one of the few people saying "this probably isn't going to happen."
Why? Because the amount of people who rely on TikTok for income is astronomical.
There are full-time creators, full-time businesses, and millions of people making an extra $500-$1,000 per month that literally pays their mortgage or student loans.
That's genuinely life-changing money for regular people.
Politicians can talk tough, but they also know how many voters depend on this platform.
The Skills Transfer
But here's what most people miss in all the panic:
The skills you learn from TikTok Shop translate to other platforms.
Even if TikTok did get banned, that traffic has to go somewhere.
There are billions of hours every day of people watching content and buying things.
People are still going to buy stuff, whether it's on TikTok, Instagram, or whatever comes next.
The Next Gold Rush Is Coming
Meta just announced they're launching their version of TikTok Shop.
Every social media company sees the impact of social commerce and wants a piece.
This means the early movers are going to get a massive advantage.
Remember when TikTok Shop first launched? Creators could make stupid videos and hit $50k months.
The same thing is going to happen when Instagram Shop and other platforms launch.
What You Actually Learned
You learned how to convert cold traffic into buyers for products they've never seen before.
That's one of the most valuable skills you can possibly have.
Especially doing it organically, not through paid ads.
No matter where that traffic goes in the future, you can take this skill with you.
The Real Lesson
Always be prepared.
You should have multiple streams of income anyway.
Diversify across platforms so if one goes down, you're not completely screwed.
The brands I work with that got started on TikTok Shop are already diversifying to Amazon, Meta, and other platforms.
Smart move.
Social Commerce Isn't Going Away
We're all phone zombies averaging 7-8 hours of screen time per day.
Social commerce is fundamentally changing how we buy things.
Instead of paying one influencer with 100k followers, now everyone can be an influencer and make commissions.
It's evening the playing field for everybody.
This trend is only getting bigger, regardless of which platform dominates.
Be Grateful
Here's something I'm guilty of myself:
Getting frustrated and saying "I only made $10k this month" like it's the end of the world.
That's insane when you think about it.
We get to make stupid videos selling random products and people actually buy them.
Have some perspective. This is an amazing opportunity.
The Bottom Line
The opportunity on TikTok Shop is bigger than ever.
But you need to be smart about building for the long term.
Don't put all your eggs in one platform basket.
Learn the skills, build systems that work anywhere, and stay adaptable.
Most people will go back to the same mindset that left them panicking during the ban scare.
Don't be most people.
Build something that works no matter what platform you're on.
The skills are transferable. The opportunity is real.
The only question is whether you're going to take advantage of it or keep worrying about what might happen.
Talk soon,
Kade
